LONDON--(Marketwire - May 25, 2011) - Echo360, the global leader in campus-wide blended learning and lecture capture solutions, today announced a 74 percent year-over-year increase in sales to higher education institutions in the United Kingdom and Europe. The remarkable growth rate is due to an upswing in long-term, enterprise implementations of the EchoSystem platform despite the economic downturn in the region.
The announcement was made during the fourth annual Echo360 Community Conference Europe at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
The number of classrooms equipped with its technology in the United Kingdom and Europe jumped more than 37 percent. The company also revealed a 27 percent increase in the number of UK and European universities using its solution. Many of these institutions hail from previously untapped markets including Austria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia and Turkey.
Higher education institutions utilize Echo360's blended learning and lecture capture technology to improve graduation rates, offer remote learning during emergencies, recruit prospects, and retain students. Echo360 records instruction and converts it into a digital format for on-demand review. Students watch, collaborate and engage with their courses on computers or their favorite mobile device.
"In today's challenging economic environment, blended learning and lecture capture offer institutions a viable way to increase distance education offerings, improve outcomes and provide more value for students," said Fred Singer, Echo360 CEO. "Our outstanding growth in the UK and Europe signals that blended learning is an education movement that reaches all parts of the globe."
