EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - May 27, 2011) - Doors open tonight for YC Alberta 2011. Thousands of youth across the province wait in anticipation for the life changing YC weekend. Grammy Award winning Switchfoot is among the 24 guest artists set to encourage Alberta's youth through music and the message.
More than awesome music and activities — YC Alberta is about youth being challenged to live a life for the purposes of God. The event will take place May 27-29 2011, at Rexall Place and the Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
"Our theme this year is "Hear the Sound" and our goal is to hear what God is saying to this generation and to see this generation mobilized for His purposes," says Mike Love, executive director of Extreme Dream Ministries. "The worship, the concerts, and the speakers are all part of three amazing days. Our aim is to properly present Jesus Christ to the world through cutting edge music, relevant communication and the passion of our life message," says Love.
Since its inception in 1994, the YC phenomenon has swept across the nation for 15 years, and has grown from 500 students in a small gymnasium, to a sell-out crowd of over 16,000 delegates in Alberta. More than 250,000 students have been impacted by this event that is spreading across the globe.
"We want to see more lives impacted through YC Alberta, YC Manitoba, YC Belize, YC Slovakia, YC Quebec, YC Newfoundland and Global Youth Missions," says Love. "More importantly, this weekend is about setting aside our denominational differences as we become one in Christ."
YC Alberta 2011 will be featuring motivational speakers such as Reggie Dabbs (US), Judah Smith (US) and musical guests Starfield (CA), Lincoln Brewster (US) and Grammy Award winning Switchfoot (US).
YC attendee, Liz says, "I don't think I've ever been this excited about anything. I got so close with God at past YC's. It has changed me forever. The bands that are playing this year are amazing. I cannot describe how great they are. Thanks SO much…from my heart."
