SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwire - May 31, 2011) - DeviceLock, Inc., an international leader in endpoint data leak prevention solutions, today announced that it has been granted two patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its local synchronization filtering technology. The patented technology allows businesses to control the transfer of data between endpoint computers and locally connected mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and PDAs, including Windows Mobile®, Palm®, iPhone®, iPod touch®, and iPad® devices.
An integral part of the DeviceLock software suite since 2007, this patented technology allows security administrators to centrally manage which types of data users can synchronize between corporate PCs and their mobile devices. DeviceLock can recognize and filter numerous data object types for iTunes®, ActiveSync®, WMDC and HotSync® protocols, letting administrators selectively allow or block synchronization of files, emails, email attachments, accounts, contacts, tasks, notes, calendar items, bookmarks, and various media types.
"Not only does the fact that DeviceLock has been granted US patents confirm its technology leadership in one of the most critical components of endpoint DLP solutions, but what is equally important is that it prevents illegal replications of this unique technology in competing products," said Ashot Oganesyan, DeviceLock CTO and Founder. "The flexible control over local synchronizations that the patented technology delivers exclusively to DeviceLock customers helps protect corporate endpoints from otherwise unavoidable data leaks. The cost and damage of these leaks can be massive and sometimes global."
Protected by US patents US7,899,779 and US7,899,782, DeviceLock's local sync control technology significantly increases the level of corporate endpoint protection against data leaks. These can be caused by employees connecting personal smartphones or tablets to their office computers through a local interface and by mistake or negligence copying sensitive corporate information to their mobile device.
With DeviceLock, it's possible to detect the presence of any mobile device regardless of which local interface it's connected. In addition, administrators can centrally block or allow the installation and execution of applications on Windows mobile devices. Furthermore, detailed centralized logging, shadowing, reviewing and reporting of all types of data copied between PCs and mobile devices is supported.
The recently released DeviceLock 7 Endpoint DLP Suite addresses the needs of enterprises that require a simple and affordable approach to preventing unauthorized data leaks from Microsoft Windows® endpoints. The Suite's core component, DeviceLock 7, exerts contextual control over local data channels on protected computers including all peripheral devices and ports, connected smartphones/PDAs, and document printing locally or to the network.
With the separately licensed NetworkLock™ component, contextual protocol control is extended to FTP/S, HTTP/S, SMTP/S, Telnet, instant messengers, webmail, and social networking applications such as Twitter™, Gmail™ and Facebook®. Another new module, ContentLock™, enables the monitoring and filtering of textual content in files and data objects based on content rules that leverage context, regular expressions, numerical conditioning and Boolean operators. Pre-configured templates for detecting common data patterns, sensitive keywords, document properties, file types, and more are included and simple to configure or copy to make customized rules. The complete package delivers an unprecedented level of performance among endpoint DLP solutions in the same price range.
DeviceLock Endpoint DLP is designed to seamlessly scale from small to large installations and ease DLP deployment and management. Customers can enhance their endpoint data security with content-aware and network control capabilities through the same well-proven MMC-style management interface instantly familiar to Windows security administrators. Most new users can learn and configure DeviceLock for the enterprise in just a few days.
With DeviceLock Group Policy Manager, a custom-made MMC snap-in for Windows Group Policy Object Editors, DeviceLock agents can be deployed, fully managed and maintained across the organization from within an existing Active Directory domain.
