DULLES, VA--(Marketwire - Jun 3, 2011) - Echo360, the global leader in campus-wide blended learning and lecture capture solutions, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (www.uspto.gov) has awarded protection for the invention of the EchoSystem SafeCapture HD. SafeCapture HD is the only purpose-built, reliable device designed to record all of the components of a lecture or presentation.
SafeCapture HD gives colleges and universities a viable alternative to generic computers for venue-based lecture capture. Utilizing a general-purpose computer is costly to maintain, susceptible to viruses and security breaches, and can be unstable when performing both the recording and presenting tasks simultaneously. SafeCapture HD eliminates these risks, creating a highly reliable environment for enterprise blended learning and lecture capture.
"EchoSystem SafeCapture HD is a mission-critical choice for blended learning and lecture capture," said Fred Singer, Echo360 CEO. "While generic computer-based solutions create inefficiencies that preclude lecture capture from reliably reaching every student across a campus, SafeCapture HD gives institutions the peace of mind needed to deliver on blended learning and lecture capture at scale, day and night. The federal patent acknowledges our innovative approach to this problem."
Patent no. 7,720,251 specifies an embedded appliance for multimedia capture that records, compresses and synchronizes multimedia classroom programming. The patent also protects the workflow surrounding the appliance, including the scheduled triggers to start capture and monitoring of the device's progress.
SafeCapture HD is part of the EchoSystem solution and is ideal for venue-based recording in deployments of all sizes. Universities may also utilize EchoCapture software on computers and instructor laptops, or can upload pre-existing media using EchoSystem external media ingest.
SafeCapture HD will be available later this month. The live-enabled platform records any combination of classroom and teaching technology, including video, display and audio, in high-definition and standard definition. The patent further enhances the EchoSystem's award-winning resume. Frost & Sullivan recently recognized it for the best overall product approach for institutions capturing instructional content for face-to-face, online and blended courses at scale.
