SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 21, 2011) - DeviceLock, Inc., a leading developer of endpoint data leak prevention software, today announced that Rice Health Care Facilities, based out of Appleton, WI, has completed its deployment of DeviceLock® software to more than 500 endpoints across its network of computers and laptops. Providing living options and care services for older adults in communities throughout Wisconsin, Rice Health Care Facilities is using DeviceLock to maintain Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance by locking down USB port access on all machines containing medical data.
HIPAA compliance requires that all American organizations that use the personal medical data of citizens are required to guarantee the confidentiality of that information. HIPAA requirements are mandatory for medical institutions, medical insurance companies, government agencies, and other organizations that have access to private medical records. Maintaining the confidentiality of all medical data for HIPAA compliance became a top priority for Rice Health Care Facilities.
For organizations of any size and industry, DeviceLock software proactively protects endpoint computers against local data leaks and malware infiltration resulting from insider negligence, accidental mistakes or malicious actions. It enables IT security personnel to precisely control, log, shadow-copy and audit end-user access to all types of local ports and peripheral devices, including personal mobile devices.
"Data leaks can be initiated by either unwitting employees or those with malicious intent who move proprietary or sensitive information from their computers to external network sources, flash memory sticks, smartphones, mp3 players, CD/DVDs, cameras, or other forms of portable storage," said David Matthiesen, Director of Sales-Americas, DeviceLock, Inc. "With the DeviceLock DLP Suite, security administrators can precisely match users' permissions for transferring data to peripherals or externally via the network to their approved job functions. Now with ContentLock added, that outbound information can be further screened to prevent data breaches based on specific content whereas other transfers that comply with the contextual and content-aware rules are allowed."
Most recently, DeviceLock introduced DeviceLock 7, the first of the company's endpoint DLP solutions to incorporate advanced content filtering capabilities and control over network communications. It features two new separately licensed components -- ContentLock™, a content monitoring and filtering module, and NetworkLock™, a network communications control module -- fully integrated with DeviceLock's best-in-class, full-coverage port/peripheral device access control functionality. The complete package delivers an unprecedented level of performance among endpoint DLP solutions in its price range.
"DeviceLock has been a technology of choice for years; it was the endpoint DLP solution that I utilized at a previous organization. Based on the simplicity and effectiveness DeviceLock offers to protect from external data leakage, it was an easy decision to deploy the software at Rice," said Kevin Uren, IT Manager at Rice Health Care Facilities. "DeviceLock not only protects our internal computing environment, but also protects the personal data for each and every one of our residents."
DeviceLock integrates directly with the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Active Directory (AD) Group Policy interface. Because Group Policy and MMC-style interfaces are common knowledge for AD administrators, there is no new interface to learn or additional appliances to buy to effectively manage endpoints centrally. With DeviceLock, Security administrators can dynamically manage endpoint data leakage prevention and audit settings right along with other Group Policy automated tasks.
