Compuware and Cable&Wireless Worldwide Showcase Solution for Managing Cloud Application Performance at Cisco Live 2011

Case Study Presentation to Demonstrate Best Practices for Increasing Operational Effectiveness and Guaranteeing the Performance of Business-Critical Applications

LAS VEGAS, July 12, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation, the technology performance company, (Nasdaq:CPWR) and Cable&Wireless Worldwide announced today that they are highlighting solutions for managing cloud application performance at Cisco Live 2011. The companies will demonstrate this capability in Compuware's booth (#1371) and in an educational presentation entitled: Managing Business Critical Enterprise Cloud Applications Across the WAN and in the Next-Generation Data Center: Cable&Wireless Worldwide Case Study. Compuware is a platinum sponsor of Cisco Live 2011.

The presentation will take place on Thursday, July 14, at 9 a.m. PDT in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino Conference Center. During this presentation, Ron Wilson, Director of Application Performance Management (APM) Product Management, Compuware; and Steve Howarth, Product Manager Applications, Cable&Wireless Worldwide, will detail how Cable&Wireless utilized Compuware Gomez APM solutions to surpass customer needs for superior enterprise cloud application performance.

C&W Worldwide's Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud computing offering, Flexible Computing, utilizes Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS) and is an extension of its data center management and virtualized hosting services portfolio that is used by many enterprise and UK Government customers. Accessed through C&W Worldwide's next-generation network and located in its UK-based secure data center, Flexible Computing addresses the security, compliance, control and availability requirements of enterprises.

"As Flexible Computing is delivered across our next-generation network (NGN), it is essentially placed within the enterprise's own Wide Area Network (WAN). This gives them full control and complete confidence over all their applications and data. In addition, Compuware's APM solution and best practices ensures a consistent end user experience for business critical applications hosted in the cloud environment," said Steve Howarth, Product Manager Applications, Cable&Wireless Worldwide. "APM provides an end user experience dashboard for our enterprise clients to correlate end to end service levels for all business critical applications in the cloud computing platform. C&W Worldwide looks holistically at all components, transactions, databases, networks and physical and virtual systems to deliver a complete service which offers Business Service Assurance."

Flexible Computing incorporates C&W Worldwide's APM solution, a central software management suite to ensure business-critical applications perform well, consistently, and deliver better value from the network by optimizing bandwidth use. APM monitors network traffic and application performance in real-time, automatically distributing and managing network allocation, to ensure traffic is prioritized according to the applications organizations decide are most business-critical. APM can also accelerate selected applications across the Wide Area Network (WAN) improving the performance of all types of applications – from file sharing and databases to software distribution.

"The partnership between Compuware and Cable&Wireless Worldwide has created next-generation solutions specifically designed to facilitate the security, compliance, control and availability requirements of enterprises while optimizing service levels and performance," said Kimberly King, Vice President of Channels and Alliances, Compuware. "We look forward to sharing our APM best practices through the eyes of one of our valued partners."

In addition to the Partner Session, Julie Jutras, Partner Business Development, Compuware, will present Driving Performance in the Converged World of Network and Application Infrastructure, on Tuesday, July 12, at 4:15 pm PDT in the Partner Theater. During this presentation, attendees will learn how Gomez in tandem with Cisco's environment can ensure top performance for web, non-web and cloud-based applications, improve operational efficiency and provide clear fault domain isolation visibility.

At the Compuware booth (#1371), visitors can take the Gomez challenge and give their web site a health check-up and see what is working and what areas may be causing poor end-user experience. Regularly scheduled educational sessions will show both network and application owners new tools to ensure the best end-user experience. Sessions include APM driven by end-user experience for Cisco WAN optimized environments, SAP environments and VoIP environments. Educational sessions will help network and application owners provide superior end-user experience. Additionally, one-on-one demonstrations with Compuware subject experts are available.
