DULLES, VA--(Marketwire - Jul 28, 2011) - Echo360, the global leader in campus-wide blended learning and lecture capture solutions, today announced an agreement with the University of London Computer Centre (ULCC) to provide hosted services for Echo360 clients in the United Kingdom. The arrangement enables institutions to securely manage, store and publish content created with Echo360 in the cloud. Higher education and further education institutions can quickly start and scale lecture capture without worrying about backend infrastructure or on-premise technology integration.
UK institutions are increasingly transitioning lecture capture from a pilot to a university service, raising student expectations for availability. Echo360 clients can ensure round-the-clock access to the recordings by leveraging ULCC hosting and the organization's 99.9% service availability commitment. The growing number of recordings also introduces capacity challenges for the schools. This arrangement allows technical staff to quickly scale their storage without deploying onsite solutions.
"The partnership with Echo360 further extends our portfolio of technology services for learning and illustrates our commitment to support and integrate best-of-breed products to meet the needs of our customers," said Richard Maccabee, Director of ULCC. "Our purpose-built data centre combined with our hosting expertise will provide Echo360 customers with a secure, stable and scalable infrastructure to deliver blended learning -- anytime, anywhere."
ULCC is the UK's largest provider of managed and supported virtual learning environments for education. It now hosts and supports Moodle instances for close to 200 higher and further education institutions, helping over 700,000 students perform in excess of 10 million online learning activities per month.
Through this agreement, institutions can host both their blended learning solution and virtual learning environment through a single provider.
"The most scalable and reliable solution for blended learning is now paired with the most reliable solution for hosting dedicated to the UK Education Sector," said Fred Singer, CEO of Echo360. "The ULCC and Echo360 partnership allows our UK clients to seamlessly grow their use of lecture capture without worrying about the technology details."
