House Beautiful's September Issue Is Refreshed With New Columns, Updated Logo, and More

Magazine Updates Logo, Adds Two New Columns, and Embeds Digital Technology Into the Printed Page

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Aug 3, 2011) - House Beautiful's September 2011 issue features an updated logo, two new columns honoring interior designers, and embedded digital technology that engages readers with the brand beyond the printed page. The September issue is available August 9.

Updated Logo: This September, House Beautiful reveals an updated logo featuring rounder, softer letters that reflect a slightly more feminine, youthful spirit that is easier to read.

New Column: Master Class: "Master Class" celebrates the giants of interior design who have years of experience and knowledge to share with readers. The column offers readers the unique opportunity to meet and learn from a master. The first designer to earn the title of House Beautiful Master Class Designer is Alessandra Branca, who is featured in the September issue.

New Column: The Next Wave: This signature House Beautiful franchise was originally an annual roundup of up-and-coming designers. Many of today's hottest designers -- Nate Berkus, Ruthie Sommers, and Laura Kirar, to name a few -- were first introduced to the national scene in "The Next Wave." In every issue, House Beautiful's "The Next Wave" will recognize one up-and-coming designer for his or her creativity and ability to execute quality interior design. The new column provides readers with a snapshot of the designer's background, a glimpse of a new project, and explores the designer's style through product recommendations and tips. The September House Beautiful "Next Wave" designer is Courtney Giles from Atlanta, GA.

Digital Technology Embedded in Print: Embracing Hearst Magazines' Unbound initiative and as an innovator in the shelter category, House Beautiful is giving printed pages another dimension. With the Digimarc Discover app for mobile devices, readers can select magazine images embedded with a hidden digital watermark to launch videos and other content for their smartphones. In the September issue, Editor in Chief Newell Turner's Editor's Letter, when scanned, will launch a video of him sharing thoughts and behind-the-scenes details about the issue. Beginning with the October issue, House Beautiful plans to feature at least five Digimarc Discover watermarks in every issue.
