NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Aug 11, 2011) - SPYRUS, Inc. announced today that their Secure Pocket Drive PC-in-a-pocket device was named the winner in the Virtual Office Technology category at the 3rd Annual 2011 Golden Bridge Awards. Industry and peer awards from Golden Bridge Awards are the world's premier business awards. This is the third award for Secure Pocket Drive, which was previously awarded Info Security Products Guide's Tomorrow's Technology Today award and the GSN Homeland Security award. SPYRUS is demonstrating Secure Pocket Drive and release version 3.5 of the SPYRUS Enterprise Management System (SEMS) August 15-18 at the DISA Customer and Industry Forum in Baltimore, Maryland (booth 1718) and in booth 1642 at the LandWarNet Conference in Tampa, Florida, August 23-25.
Secure Pocket Drive, in combination with SEMS, allows government and business organizations to deploy and manage a secure computing environment without fear of malware or rogue employees endangering enterprise security.
SEMS uses an open plug-in architecture that allows other vendors of secure USB flash drives to integrate their devices by using a software development kit (SDK). To ensure the strongest protection of your data, SPYRUS high-assurance devices should, of course, be used for all secure storage and authentication.
SEMS provides centralized console management over online and offline user access to secure USB devices, including self-enrollment, password control, temporary enabling and disabling of user access, permanent blocking of user access, remote data erasure, policy management, and auditing.
Unlike competing systems, SEMS was designed on the premise that even insiders can be attackers. Multifactor smart card authentication and two-man control of all critical functions can be enabled to prevent a rogue employee from accessing or disabling managed devices without authorization.
SEMS relies on a hardware chain of trust using public key infrastructure (PKI) implemented with Suite B elliptic curve cryptography. Devices accept SEMS management commands only if the commands:
- Provably derive from an authorized and authenticated management console
- Are initiated by authenticated administrators
- Are issued by trusted authenticated servers
SPYRUS is the only vendor to implement the entire set of Suite B cryptographic algorithms in FIPS 140-2 Level 3-validated hardware across all product lines. Suite B is promulgated by the US Department of Defense to serve as an interoperable cryptographic base for data protection and information sharing for both unclassified information and most classified information.
