EAST GREENWICH, RI--(Marketwire - Sep 8, 2011) - Rhode Island Producers Chad A. Verdi and Noah Kraft are at the Toronto Film Festival along with other members of Verdi Productions to oversee an international buyers screening of their Manhattan-set romantic thriller, Loosies.
Cinema Management Group (CMG), Verdi's international sales agent, will be screening Loosies in a special venue for buyers near the festival. UTA's Bec Smith brokered the deal between CMG and Verdi Productions during the summer.
Loosies stars Peter Facinelli (Twilight, Nurse Jackie, The Scorpion King), Jaimie Alexander (Thor, Rest Stop, Hallowed Ground), Vincent Gallo (Buffalo '66, The Brown Bunny, Tetro), Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2) and Joe Pantoliano (Memento, The Matrix, The Fugitive). Facinelli is the screenwriter and a producer on the film (through his company Facinelli Films), alongside producers Chad A. Verdi, Noah Kraft, and Glenn Ciano. The film was directed by Michael Corrente (American Buffalo). The original soundtrack was composed and performed by American Idol alumni Paul McDonald with an original score by Chad Fischer (Garden State).
Loosies tells the story of Bobby (Facinelli), an NYC pickpocket passing as a Wall Street stockbroker who roams the city looking for marks. He tempts fate by lifting the badge of an NYC Detective (Michael Madsen) much to the annoyance of his viciously manipulative boss (Vincent Gallo). While playing this dangerous game of cat and mouse, Bobby runs into an even bigger challenge: a recent one-night-stand named Lucy (Jaimie Alexander). Three months after their passionate affair, Bobby must face reality when Lucy informs him she's pregnant, and the baby is his. Suddenly, two different worlds collide, forcing Bobby to reevaluate a lifetime of missteps, and make a big decision about his future.
"In the vein of Sidney Lumet and Martin Scorsese, Loosies has that gritty big city feel as a backdrop to the intersecting lives of several fascinating screen characters," said Edward Noeltner, CMG President. "Bobby, played brilliantly by Peter Facinelli, is the quintessential honorable criminal of the 21st Century."
Said producer Chad A. Verdi, "We put a lot of heart, soul and money into making Loosies. It is a top notch theatrical feature, and we are delighted to be working with the team at CMG who share our passion and vision for this film."
In addition to screening Loosies, Mr. Verdi, his wife Michelle (Head of Music and Talent for Verdi Productions) and Mr. Kraft will also be taking meetings on future projects while at TIFF. "We are very excited to be going to Toronto," said Mrs. Verdi. "Screening Loosies is a great opportunity for the company, and we couldn't have asked for a better start for us in the film industry!"
"We are excited to be at TIFF selling and looking for other projects to acquire," added Verdi. "We are gearing up for our biggest production yet. Filming will begin in 2012 and we are talking with some of the biggest names in Hollywood."
