General Mills Added to Dow Jones Summer/Winter Games Index

Number of Index Components Increases to 38 Following Regular Quarterly Review

NEW YORK, Sept. 8, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- General Mills, a new official supplier to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, will be added to the Dow Jones Summer/Winter Games Index, Dow Jones Indexes announced today.

The Dow Jones Summer/Winter Games Index measures the performance of all publicly traded securities of companies that are official partners, sponsors or suppliers of the next Olympiad – in this case, the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

No components will be deleted from the index as a result of the regular quarterly review, Dow Jones Indexes, a global index provider, said. The index is reviewed quarterly in March, June, September and December.

On August 31, 2011, Minneapolis, Minn.-based General Mills (NYSE:GIS) announced its Nature Valley brand would be the official cereal snack bar supplier to the London Summer Olympic Games in 2012.

Effective after the close of trading on September 16, 2011, the addition of General Mills in the index will increase the number of components to 38 from 37. As of September 7, 2011, the free-float market capitalization of the reconstituted Dow Jones Summer/Winter Games Index increased to US$1405.5 billion from US$1382.8 billion.
