BURBANK, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 16, 2011) - What better recipe for success than to give food lovers the chance to sample every flavor under the sun and save the planet at the same time? That's exactly what organizers of the 8th Annual Taste of Downtown Burbank have in mind by uniting 40 of Burbank's finest restaurants, a Beer and Wine Garden, Chef Demonstrations, live music and the Burbank Recycle Center to create the green culinary event of the year. Festivities are set for Thursday, October 6 from 5:30 to 9:30 P.M., and proceeds benefit the Burbank Community YMCA financial scholarship fund.
With a commitment to zero waste, Burbank Recycle Center staff will distribute compostable and environmentally friendly plates, cups and utensils to attendees, and set up recycling and compost stations throughout the four-block event on San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia Boulevard and Olive Avenue in the heart of Downtown Burbank. In addition, restaurateurs have been briefed on sustainable practices and encouraged to develop food samples that can be eaten by hand in order to eliminate disposable serving products.
Tickets give access to unlimited food samples, chef demos and live entertainment featuring blues legend Barbara Morrison and Vegas-style hipsters Phat Cat Swinger. Prices range from $30 for all you can eat, per person; $45 including the Beer and Wine Garden and $10 for children 12 years old and under. Tickets are available at www.tasteofdowntown-burbank.com.
