Trade Grant Helps U.S. Clean Truck & Bus Tech Firms Connect With China Partners, Market to Create Jobs

U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration Selects CALSTART for Award to Operate U.S.-China Clean Truck Technology Forum -- Which Kicks Off at HTUF Conference

PASADENA, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 22, 2011) - CALSTART and the International Trade Administration (ITA) this week announced an award to CALSTART to help U.S. truck and bus clean technology companies connect with Chinese partners and promote the export of American medium and heavy-duty clean vehicle technology to China.

"U.S. firms we work with are among the world leaders in hybrid, electric and advanced clean truck and bus technology and China is becoming the world's leading commercial vehicle market. Our U.S.-China Clean Truck Technology Forum will link these players to form partnerships, speed clean tech market introductions and create export and job growth opportunities for U.S. firms," said John Boesel, President and CEO of CALSTART.

The Commerce Department's Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP) awards include financial and technical assistance from the ITA to support well-defined business plans aimed at increasing exports and U.S. competitiveness within certain industries. These cooperative agreements help to further President Obama's National Export Initiative, which aims to double U.S. exports by the end of 2014 in support of several million U.S. jobs.
