SEATTLE, Oct. 24, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Blue Star Gas is set to break ground on its newest propane autogas station and distribution facility, located in Tukwila, Wash., which will serve the growing demand for this fuel in the Puget Sound region. The company has provided the Alliance AutoGas integrated solution across California and Oregon and now brings this benefit to fleets and the public in the Northwest, helping customers save money and drive "green" by shifting to affordable, domestically produced autogas.
"The Blue Star Gas facility in Tukwila now extends the reach of our propane distribution and fueling operations on the West Coast," says Blue Star Gas President Jeff Stewart. "With this location, we will deliver Puget Sound fleets and the public the most economical and environmentally friendly alternative fuel available today and meet the needs of those who want to save money while enhancing national energy security and reducing greenhouse gas emissions."
The Tukwila City Council approved Blue Star's permit application unanimously, a further indication of increasing awareness that this fuel can serve our country's motor fuel needs in four critically important arenas: the environment, our nation's growing energy needs, the economy and national security. Autogas is the third most widely alternative fuel in the world and the U.S. supply is 90 percent made in America.
Autogas costs about $1 less per gallon than gasoline and because autogas is also a cleaner burning fuel, vehicles require less maintenance. This accelerates the return on investment made by fleets for conversion. Vehicles converted to autogas have increased engine life and Alliance AutoGas will install on-site fueling dispensers at no cost for fleets that qualify. Fleets shifting to this fuel can recoup conversion costs in months and after that, fuel savings contribute to bottom line business vitality and jobs.
Joining the Blue Star Gas team is propane industry veteran Scott Cooley, who will manage the Tukwila facility. Cooley brings four decades of energy sector experience to his new position. "I'm proud to be joining Blue Star and to have the privilege of introducing the benefits of propane autogas to a whole new segment of fleets in the Seattle area," says Cooley. "There's simply no other domestically produced cleaner fuel in America that's as cost-effective and easily implementable as autogas."
