ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 25, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CloudLinux, Inc., developers of the only commercially-supported Linux server operating system made specifically for shared hosting, today announced a partnership with Parallels®, the hosting and cloud services enablement leader. CloudLinux OS, which will now be accessible directly from Parallels Plesk Panel and Parallels Business Automation solutions, offers web hosting companies the ability to manage resources available to their shared hosting customers.
Parallels’ customers can now purchase CloudLinux OS licenses directly from Parallels. This agreement is in addition to the existing integration of CloudLinux OS with Parallels Business Automation, currently used by many larger web hosting companies. CloudLinux is fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and CentOS, enabling easy conversion -- typically in less than 10 minutes.
"The combination of our integration with Parallels Plesk Panel, and the ability to purchase CloudLinux OS directly from Parallels, will help accelerate our adoption," said Igor Seletskiy, CloudLinux CEO. "We recently surpassed 5,000 production servers running CloudLinux OS as hosting companies continue to realize the benefits of enhanced security and stability that the CloudLinuxOS offers shared hosting companies."
"We are seeing an increasing number of our cloud service provider partners using CloudLinux OS along with Parallels Plesk Panel and Parallels Automation," said Bryan Goode, vice president, general manager Marketplace at Parallels. "This new alliance benefits our partners by making it even easier for them to purchase, deploy and manage CloudLinux."
CloudLinux cages each user account within its own Lightweight Virtual Environment (LVE), allowing system administrators to limit CPU, memory, and concurrent connections available to each tenant. LVE effectively prevents the, "bad neighbor effect," wherein one tenant can slow or take down an entire server. By limiting abuse, shared hosters can substantially increase server density, bringing far greater efficiency to their business.
Also, CloudLinux OS includes MySQL Governor, which enables tight control over the MySQL resources available to users, and will soon release CageFS, the industry’s only virtualized file system for shared hosters. CageFS assures that user files are only available to, and viewable by, their owner. CloudLinux also offers the fastest updates in the industry, with professional support available 24/7.
Parallels’ partners can add CloudLinux through the Parallels Key Administrator portal, while others can get more information on CloudLinux through the Parallels Online Store.
