WAKEFIELD, Mass., Nov. 1, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverse (Nasdaq:CMVT), a global leader in BSS, mobile Internet and value-added services, and veteran Israeli operator Mirs Communications today jointly announced that Mirs has selected the Comverse ONE® Billing and Active Customer Management™ solution, and Comverse VAS next-generation voice, text and multimedia solutions to optimize and leverage the capabilities of its new UMTS network.
The smart single-data-model BSS system, the first of its kind to be launched in Israel, will simplify work and business processes and upgrade the end-user experience through a broad variety of advanced and innovative services, with a complete and consistent view of users and full billing transparency.
Mirs Communications has been finalizing preparations in recent months for the launch of its new cellphone network after winning the auction for the frequencies from the Ministry of Communications. The deployment of the advanced Comverse ONE BSS solution to optimize and leverage the capabilities of the third-generation network (UMTS) is a key part of the transformation, making it the most advanced network in Israel.
The launch of the new advanced 3G network alongside the iDEN network currently serving hundreds of thousands of subscribers, with the support structure of Comverse ONE and Comverse VAS, is expected to significantly upgrade the customer experience, featuring a wide range of innovative services, administrative and business speed and flexibility, and attractive pricing plans.
The Comverse ONE solution will provide a powerful user experience focused on the customer. It will enable real-time billing, central management of a broad range of products and services, and more. It will streamline business processes across the entire organization, from customer relationship management (CRM) to the billing systems, and will improve every aspect of the customer lifecycle — from procurement, through order management, collection and sale according to customer preferences and needs.
In addition, Mirs chose Comverse all-IP-based next-generation VAS, offering users the latest capabilities and enhanced services in the Voice, SMS and multimedia/MMS realms.
Mirs CTO Avi Patir said, "To succeed in the UMTS world and simultaneously improve the customer experience in the iDEN world, we turned to Comverse, the world leader in BSS and value-added services, with a significant local presence. In addition to our longstanding connection and relationship with them, we determined that their products, services and advanced technology make Comverse the company with whom we want to advance into the world of UMTS."
Patir added, "I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the people in our company, and of course also in Comverse, who worked day and night on the definition of the system that will provide our users with new standards of service now and into the future."
"We chose Comverse, among other reasons, due to their client-centered approach, allowing us to more quickly achieve the objectives that we set for ourselves with the new network launch in early 2012," said Abrasha Burshtein, CEO of Mirs. "The new system is consistent with the Mirs policy to work with leading companies in the industry to enable our new and existing customers to enjoy the newest and most advanced cellular network."
"Comverse was selected after a comprehensive evaluation process taking into consideration project capabilities, TCO, innovation, and aggressive project time lines," said Roni Levy, Head of the BSS Business Unit at Comverse. "We embrace the challenge to be a fully supportive partner now and in the long term. From our extensive experience with Mirs, we know that as this award-winning and socially committed operator becomes a more versatile and dominant player in the Israeli market, its customers can look forward to uncompromising quality and unparalleled innovation."
