ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Nov 15, 2011) - (SCTE Cable-Tec Expo® 2011) -- Great Lakes Data Systems, Inc. (GLDS), the leading provider of billing, subscriber management and provisioning systems for small-to-medium global broadband providers, today announced that its flagship WinCable® subscriber management and billing system has been integrated with Clearleap's Stream On Demand Solution. The Stream On Demand solution is a cloud-based IP content management and delivery system that enables television service providers to create a fully operator-branded subscriber experience such as those offered by Netflix, Amazon and Hulu by streaming content directly to connected set-tops, devices and TVs.
Clearleap and GLDS will showcase the joint solution for the first time at SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo® 2011, the television industry's engineering show of the year, taking place in Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 15-17 in GLDS' booth #613 and Clearleap's booth #1123. The demonstration will feature the joint solution operating on a Roku set-top box, an LG Smart TV, a TiVo DVR and an iPad tablet. The Clearleap solution enables delivery to any IP connected device and allows operators to cost-effectively provide their own branded IP video services solution rather than investing in a completely new IP infrastructure.
"By integrating with GLDS, we're making it easier for TV operators to monetize new services that are seamlessly connected to GLDS' popular billing and subscriber management system for independent operators worldwide," said Clearleap CEO Braxton Jarratt.
Operators can use Clearleap's Stream On Demand Solution to stream unlimited hours and titles over existing broadband networks, creating a compelling content offering delivered directly to the TV. With the Clearleap and GLDS integrated solution, operators now have a fully hosted, end-to-end advanced TV offering -- addressing content management and delivery to billing and subscriber management -- at a fraction of the cost traditionally associated with larger TV operators' on-demand offerings.
Orbitel Communications, serving more than 9,500 residential and business cable TV and HSD access subscribers in Maricopa, Ariz. since 2002, launched the Clearleap/GLDS solution in October 2011. "By leveraging the joint solution from GLDS and Clearleap, we were able to quickly deploy our own Orbitel Stream-branded on demand solution -- at a low cost capital investment with nominal storage costs and without the need to add any additional personal -- and offer unlimited hours and titles of on-demand content over our existing network to branded applications on the Roku box. When compared to traditional MSO on demand deployments or trying to develop our own mobile application, the Clearleap/GLDS solution gave us a tremendous advantage in terms of ROI and time-to-market. Now our subscribers have access to a vast array of on-demand movies, TV, local and web video -- all aggregated, authenticated and managed in one place," said Orbitel President and CEO Keith Kirkman.
"Our integration with Clearleap ensures smooth subscriber authorization, transaction processing and a single, integrated billing solution, allowing our broadband operator customers to cost-effectively offer new advanced on demand and personalized services," said GLDS President Garrick Russell.
