City Telecom Helps Facilitate Self-Actualization Via Local Community Mentoring Program

HONG KONG, Nov. 23, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At City Telecom (HK) Limited (HKSE:1137) (Nasdaq:CTEL), we strive to facilitate our 3,000 plus Talents to fulfill their desire of self-actualization and to become everything that one is capable of becoming. To live up to this Core Purpose, we join hands with Quality Mentorship Network (QMN) to facilitate our Talents to become the Mentors of unprivileged kids, rendering support and encouragement during an important stage of their growth.

City Telecom aims to offer all our Talents a "Career+" experience, to achieve beyond business results and venture into positive contributions to our society. The Mentorship Program is a serious 3-year personal commitment. Talents who join this program will commit to building long term relationship with the kids. Often, life-time friendships are formed via this introduction. So far, around 40 Talents have committed to be a Mentor, and more than 50 Talents have committed for financial support, all on a personal basis.

Fan Wong, District Service Technician, an upcoming Mentor said, "It is meaningful if I can make contribution to the growth of the children. I firmly believed that it will be an important lesson in our lives, no matter for the mentor or for the children."

Another upcoming Mentor, Carrie Wong, Manager of Talent Management, said, "The program can help to facilitate the younger generation to explore their dreams and future, experience a life changing opportunity and value the support from the community. I am glad to join this program."

"The Mentorship Program is indeed a two-way life experience. Not only the kids will be benefit but also our Mentor Talents. Through this three-year relationship, our Talents will awaken to be more engaged with our local community, learning how to communicate with the next generation and be inspired on personal growth. Building relationship with those children is similar to the building of Fibre Network - both will change the lives of our next generation. It takes time, but is well worth it," said Annie Sin, Director of CSR of City Telecom.
