CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Dec 19, 2011) - Industry-leading online real estate brokerage Dream Town Realty is the listing company for the Chicago home of former Hollywood starlet June Travis. The 2,754-square-foot downtown condo, which is located in the city's famed Water Tower Place building, was highlighted in a recent issue of Chicago Magazine's "Deal Estate". June Travis made a name for herself back in the 1930s as a beautiful, young actress who appeared in several films starring the likes of James Cagney and Ronald Reagan (whom she reportedly dated, long before his presidential days). While Ms. Travis mostly played supporting roles in "B" movies, her pretty looks and natural talent earned her recognition in Hollywood during her few-year stint on the silver screen.
Born in Chicago, young June moved to Los Angeles after an agent spotted her at a White Sox spring training session (her father was Harry Grabiner, general manager of the team from 1915-1945). She signed on with Warner Brothers at the age of 20 and worked in Hollywood throughout the mid- and late-1930s before deciding to return home to Chicago. Back in the Windy City, Ms. Travis got involved in the local theater community and continued to act on stage. She lived to be 93 years old, spending her later life in the sprawling 46th-floor condo at 180 E. Pearson Street, which is now up for sale.
Ms. Travis' 2-bedroom, 2.1-bathroom condo is currently on the market for $1.75 million. Its listing agent, Connie Atterbury of Dream Town Realty, says the home is a deal for the location -- especially considering there are several other pricier properties in the building, including two units on the 72nd floor listed for nearly $3 million and $2.895 million.
"This condo is a northeast corner, so it gets excellent natural light and affords stunning views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding skyline," said Ms. Atterbury of the Water Tower Place residence that has huge window expanses wrapping around the main living area.
