ChristianMingle(R).com Poll Shows Virginia Is NOT for Lovers, Contrary to State Slogan

BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 9, 2012) - A recent Valentine's Day poll by ChristianMingle.com, the largest and fastest growing online community for Christian singles, revealed only 44 percent of Virginians said they most desire a significant other when asked "What do you most want for Valentine's Day?", the lowest percentage of all 50 states.

"Considering the state's tourism slogan, 'Virginia is for lovers,' we found these results to be both surprising and ironic," said Ashley Reccord, Christian community manager for Spark Networks®, owner and operator of ChristianMingle.

Indiana ranked highest amongst the 50 states, with 74 percent of ChristianMingle members responding favorably to the poll question, suggesting perhaps Virginia's state slogan may not be as representative as it once was. Another compelling finding from the poll question is 81 percent of men want a significant other for Valentine's Day, as opposed to only 61 percent of women.

In response to other questions, the online survey revealed 46 percent of Christian singles believe there is one right person in the world for them, compared to 34 percent who disagreed and 20 percent who were undecided. The poll also showed age as a determining factor when it comes to soul mates -- with only 39 percent of those 56 years old and older favorably answering the question compared with 57 percent of 18- to 25-year-olds.
