LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwire - Feb 22, 2012) - The Florida Communities of Excellence Awards today announced the finalists to be honored in the 2012 program, including the six associations competing in the new "Comeback Kid" category. The "Comeback Kid" Award recognizes the managers and boards of communities that have led their organization back from the hardship of a natural disaster, such as a fire or hurricane, or the financial downturn and real estate crash.
Finalists and winners in each of 10 categories will be honored at the annual Florida Communities of Excellence Conference & Awards Ceremony, Friday, March 30 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Conference Center in Hollywood. The full-day event includes a luncheon, educational sessions, and a gala reception and Awards Ceremony. The event is free for Community Association Board Members, Managers, and Residents. The six revitalized communities competing in the "Comeback Kid" category are divided into two size categories:
Small Communities (up to 400 units)
- Anclote Point Town Homes, Tarpon Springs
- Edgewater Condominium of Broward County, Coral Springs
- Sandy Key Owners Association, Inc., Pensacola
Large Communities (more than 400 units)
- Coral Gate West Condominium Association, Inc., Hialeah
- Mirador-South Beach Condominium Association, Miami Beach
- Sterling Hill Homeowners Association, Inc., Spring Hill
The "Comeback Kid" is one of 10 categories in the 2012 edition of the comprehensive, independent program that recognizes the pinnacle of achievement for community associations throughout Florida. Judging is conducted by independent professionals, including executives in regional and state government departments and agencies, at non-profit organizations and at trade and professional associations.
