AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Shango®, an industry leading Integration-as-a-Service provider, today announced that Tim Meier has joined the company as its new Vice President of Business Development. He will be responsible for strategic planning and market development efforts to rollout Shango's cloud-based service orchestration software solutions designed to enable VoIP service providers.
"Tim brings many years of success and expertise from the B/OSS industry to Shango at a critical time in the evolution of our company-- we recently changed our identity to emphasize our move away from retail channels. He will help drive the company's new brand which is providing innovative cloud-based carrier solutions along with our core wholesale VoIP services aggregation," said David Walsh, CEO and founder of Shango. "Tim's deep knowledge of the many telecom business models and associated back office challenges will be instrumental in the growth of our organization."
Meier has over 20 years of telecom sales and sales management experience with 14 years in B/OSS software solutions for regulated and unregulated service providers. He has extensive knowledge of various telecom business models and the operational challenges facing today's service providers from network and operational infrastructure to managing trading partners, channels, customers and stakeholders. In addition, he played a key role in launching the first CLEC in Austin, Texas for Metro Access Networks/Brooks Fiber. Prior to joining Shango, Mr. Meier served as Vice President of Sales for CHR Solutions where he led the sales efforts for software, engineering, consulting and managed IT services to communications service providers. His other previous sales roles include marketing interconnection trading partner gateway solutions and B/OSS solutions to RBOCs and CLECs at Wisor Telecom and Aptis/Billing Concepts.
"The opportunity to come back to Austin and work with such a strong entrepreneurial leadership team on the Shango vision was more than compelling itself. However, being at the intersection of both evolving network technologies and B/OSS software infrastructure is what really excited me," said Tim Meier, Vice President of Business Development at Shango. "Shango has all the ingredients for success including a dynamic team of forward-looking individuals that aren't afraid to challenge the status quo, and a solution platform born out of years of being a service provider. Shango is a shining example of proverb saying that necessity is the mother of innovation."
