Former Cast Member of Oprah Winfrey's 'The Color Purple' Launches America's 2012 Million Youth Peace March International

The Initiative is Catching the Attention of Top Community Activists

NEW YORK, March 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On July 14, 2012, youth from around the world will march together towards their nations' Capitol in honor of "World Peace, Health and Wellness." They will participate in the March to urge each other to say "NO" to teen-on-teen violence, substance & alcohol abuse, and childhood obesity.

The Million Youth Peace March International (MYPMI) is an annual mentoring program that aims to teach youth how to be more responsible and solve conflict in a non-violent way. Ms. Kitra Williams, who has stared in big plays such as "The Color Purple", Tyler Perry's "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" and Bishop T.D. Jakes' "Woman Thou Art Loosed", is Founder and brain-child of this powerful movement.

The March will be dedicated in honor of the late students from Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, and the late Martin Luther King Jr.

The MYPMI will be a two-day event kicking off with a VIP silent auction/reception on July 13th. The auction will feature the work of upcoming youth entrepreneurs. Works will entail artwork, jewelry, poetry, books, and other items. "Youth are doing more than walking around with their pants hanging. We do want to revitalize our communities, we do want higher education, and we do want to urge each other to stop perpetuating violence against one another," said Jarah Gibson-(Executive Youth Ambassador for the MYPMI and American Idol contestant).

The MYPMI extends beyond our nation's borders. Organizers are reaching out to other organizations such as The Obama Administration, The Rainbow Coalition and Rev Al Sharpton's NAN organization for partnership. One of the keynote speakers will be Dr. Nono C. Pearson, who was a high school dropout and an at-risk youth, and is now an emerging Billionaire and the President/CEO of United Vision Marketing Firm.

"We must come together in the spirit of peace and love, embracing each other's fears, cultures, and diversities," stated Kitra Williams.

"The ultimate goal is to empower as many youth as we can and to obtain a passed resolution from our Congress and President Obama, proclaiming July 14th as a National day of recognition called, 'Youth Peace Day'!", Ms. Williams said

Proceeds from the MYPMI will go towards building the Agape Academies – worldwide. "I believe if we prepare our youth today, we will empower them for tomorrow" --Kitra Williams, Founder of the MYPMI and Agape Gospel Academy.
