PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 21, 2012) - Rock the Earth of Denver, Colo., and Calafia Café of Palo Alto, Calif., announced a joint fundraiser in honor of Earth Month. The popular café owned by local celebrity chef Charlie Ayers will be donating a portion of its April proceeds to Rock the Earth, a national not-for-profit environmental organization. Rock the Earth works to protect and maintain America's natural resources to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment through partnerships with the music industry and the worldwide environmental community.
Calafia Café will donate a portion of its proceeds for the month of April, while guests will have the opportunity to sign up for eMusic and receive $10 of music credit. On April 22, Earth Day, each patron will receive a free CD from SCI Fidelity Records featuring bands including The String Cheese Incident, Steve Winwood, Railroad Earth and many others.
Ayers is an ardent supporter of the environment and a long-time music lover. He is credited with spearheading Google's legendary corporate cafeterias and building out its sustainable dining program. He has been involved with Rock the Earth since his time cooking and catering for a member of the Grateful Dead, as well as other bands, and continues to cook at large open-air music festivals.
"I'm thrilled to work with Rock the Earth to a greater extent, and to partner with them to provide a special offer for our guests next month," explains Ayers. "Our goal is not only to raise money for such an important cause, but also to raise awareness around Earth Day and the great international celebration."
Marc Ross, executive director and founder of Rock the Earth, adds, "Charlie has long shared our passion for environmental conservation, and his cooking has always reflected a devotion to healthy products grown on local, sustainable farms. We appreciate his support and look forward to a joyful and healthy month-long celebration of Earth Day at Calafia Café."

About Calafia Café
Calafia Café and Market A Go Go is the embodiment of Chef Charlie Ayers' belief that food should be healthy, delicious and accessible to everyone. Charlie set out to create a restaurant that could offer "slow food fast" while maintaining the "soul of California" that is central to his cuisine. Local, sustainable and organic whole foods are showcased in a collection of modern comfort foods with a global influence. The restaurant offers a full vegetarian menu as well as several gluten-free and vegan items. The adjoining Market A Go Go offers made-to-order salads, smoothies, sandwiches and a collection of entrées to heat and serve at home. Biodynamic wines, organic beers and homemade sodas complement the cuisine.
