FRISCO, Texas, March 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OxySure® Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:OXYS) ("OxySure"), the pioneering manufacturer of life-saving easy-to-use emergency oxygen solutions with its "oxygen from powder" technology has announced that the Company's Model 615 portable oxygen unit was used to assist in saving the life of 13-year old Kylee Shea.
A 7th grader at Maus Middle School in Frisco, Texas, Kylee suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on September 26, 2011. Two quick-thinking, well-trained schoolteachers rushed within seconds to Kylee's aid after she crumpled in a school hallway, and applied CPR and used an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to restart Kylee's heart. Immediately after that, oxygen was administered using the OxySure Model 615. Thanks to the vision of Kylee's parents, Sheryl and Mike Shea, and their desire to increase awareness the surveillance footage capturing the entire incident was released to the media. The Shea family and both the heroic teachers, Brent Reese and Kristen Goodgion appeared on NBC's "Today" show and Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends" recently to discuss this emergency situation.
"We are grateful for the quick actions of Brent and Kristen, and that the AED was available to revive Kylee's heart," said Sheryl Shea, Kylee's mom. "We are equally grateful for the OxySure unit being available to ensure that Kylee's quality of life is restored. Through this incident, we have become passionate advocates for the universal availability of AEDs and OxySure - wherever there are people! That means, in both public access areas and in private places."
Said Julian Ross, CEO of OxySure: "There is no better reward for what we do, than to know that our product has once again been able to make an impact and a difference." He added: "Various clinical protocols call for the administration of supplemental oxygen, post-resuscitation, in a cardiac arrest event. Our goal is to continue to raise awareness about this critical need and to work towards the widespread availability and accessibility of OxySure to satisfy this and other emergency medical needs."
