SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 29, 2012) - e.Republic's Center for Digital Government is pleased to announce the addition of Richard McKinney as a senior fellow to its impressive bench of state and local government experts.
McKinney formerly served as the government technology advisor for Microsoft State and Local Government. Prior to this, McKinney was the Chief Information Officer for seven years for the City of Nashville and Davidson County, a consolidated city/county government. He has also served as the Director of Information Services for the Tennessee General Assembly and as Assistant Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of General Services in the past. McKinney's areas of expertise range widely from IT consolidation and strategic planning to CIO leadership and cloud computing, among several others.
McKinney has been recognized multiple times for his dedication to improving local government. As CIO for Nashville and Davidson County, he helped the Department of Information Technology Services move from a last-place ranking in the 1999 Governing Magazine Grading the Cities Survey to a top-10 finish in the Center for Digital Government's annual Digital Cities Survey. This top-10 ranking continued through 2009.
The Center for Digital Government is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government. As a senior fellow, McKinney will contribute to Center thought leadership, collaborating on its highly regarded strategy papers and extensive research. McKinney will also serve as a voice of the Center at government IT events around the nation.
