GILLSVILLE, GA--(Marketwire - Apr 10, 2012) - Beth Buffington Weikel and her sister Ginger Buffington Folger are part of the fifth generation of Buffingtons to own and manage their family's farm. As their children have moved to college and left their childhood homes, Weikel and Folger have decided to downsize part of their family-operated farm in Gillsville, Ga. through a real estate auction.
They have since hired J.P. King Auction Company, one of the nation's leading real estate auction marketing firms, to sell 528 acres of their land in Gillsville, Ga. The property will sell as part of an estate auction in 13 tracts and 33 parcels, several of which will be offered absolute, on June 2.
"We hope someone will be able to enjoy this land as much as our family has," said Weikel, who uses the land for chicken houses, foresting and as her personal residence. "East Hall County has so much to offer, and this could be one of the last chances to own a ranch within 45 minutes of Atlanta."
The home, which sits on the first tract, is a charming four-bedroom, cottage-style home with a wraparound porch, providing the best views of the property's hills and pastures along the North Oconee River. The recently remodeled kitchen boasts upgrades from granite countertops to wood-beam ceilings, stainless appliances, granite countertops and cherry cabinets.
"As our children begin to leave the nest and we transition to a new place, we hope someone will be able to enjoy this land as our family has for five generations now," said Folger.
The families will continue to farm and live on the remaining part of the estate, which covers over 850 acres across Hall and Jackson counties.
About the Property: The majority of the tracts are zoned Agricultural Residential but offer potential for residential, recreation or commercial uses. Eight chicken houses are currently in operation on the property and are generating income. Each house is 40'x400' and can inhabit 22,500 chickens. A host of barns and sheds are located throughout the property as well.
Among the 33 total parcels, many will sell absolute with no minimums and no reserves. Tract 6 is divided into three parcels with road frontage and could be zoned to include commercial interest. Other tracts include various barns, sheds and small homes, and Tracts 7, 12 and 13 will sell absolute.
The auction will take place on Saturday, June 2 at 1 p.m. on the property, which is located at 4204 Gillsville Highway in Gillsville, Ga. Property tours will be available by appointment on May 18-20, May 25-27 and June 1. For additional information, individuals may contact J. P.
