SAN FRANCISCO, April 10, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Convirture has released updates to its ConVirt Enterprise and ConVirt Enterprise Cloud software that is used by organizations worldwide to manage virtual and cloud infrastructures based on KVM and Xen hypervisors. The updates to ConVirt Enterprise and ConVirt Enterprise Cloud include additional features that enable IT managers to effectively manage their virtual data centers, as well as usability enhancements that make the software even easier to deploy and use.
In addition to virtual machine management, ConVirt Enterprise provides advanced automation features including high availability, dynamic workload management, and backup and restore. ConVirt Enterprise Cloud delivers public, private, and hybrid cloud management, side-by-side with traditional virtualized infrastructure management.
"Customers worldwide have deployed ConVirt Enterprise and ConVirt Enterprise Cloud to manage virtual infrastructure and cloud deployments in a variety of settings from manufacturing to government to education," said Arsalan Farooq, CEO of Convirture. "These new versions of the software continue to deliver a sophisticated management toolset for open source hypervisors, while adding additional functionality that is a direct result of customer feedback and use in real-world production settings."
ConVirt Enterprise updates include:
* New diagnostic capabilities. Customers and support teams can investigate running virtual machines and facilitate patches with minimum disruptions to live production deployments.
* New High Availability capabilities. The High Availability feature has been enhanced with improved fallback algorithms and performance optimizations.
* Performance enhancements for large
deployments. Provides improved dashboard performance on
virtual machines page and data center page for large-scale
deployments.
* LDAPS support enables customers to use secure
LDAP (SSL and TLS) for their directory integration with
ConVirt.
* Template creation from a virtual machine. Enables users to create templates from virtual machines created in ConVirt. This significantly simplifies the flow of creating "gold" provisioning images.
Additional updates to ConVirt Enterprise Cloud include:
* The ability to import existing virtual machines from
third party clouds. For example, existing virtual machines
in an Amazon EC2 account can be easily "imported" and then managed
via ConVirt Enterprise Cloud.
New platform certifications include:
* SLES 11 SP2 support
* Eucalyptus 2.0.3 support
* IE Support
Update coming to ConVirt Open Source edition
Convirture also announced an upcoming update to its free open
source edition, ConVirt Open
Source, which provides virtual machine management for Xen and
KVM.
