Israeli Airports Authority Chooses Morpho's Advanced Technology CTX/XRD Explosives Detection "System of Systems" for Hold Baggage Screening

After Successful Pilot Tests, IAA Places Order for Additional System of Systems Installations Consisting of CTX 9000 DSi and XRD 3500 EDS

NEWARK, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 18, 2012) - Morpho Detection, Inc. (MDI), the explosives and narcotics detection business of Morpho, Safran group's security unit, today announced the Israeli Airports Authority (IAA) has selected its advanced technology "System of Systems" to help meet its stringent hold baggage screening requirements at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport.

After a successful pilot test at Ben Gurion Airport of the system integrated in the new baggage handling system, the IAA has placed an order for additional System of Systems as part of phase two of the project. Morpho Detection's System of Systems combines XRD and CTX technologies to deliver unparalleled levels of detection that allows airport security operators to enhance security, improve the passenger experience, reduce operational costs and increase return on security infrastructure investments by reducing false alarms and resultant manual inspections of bags.

"The IAA is a world leader in innovative security practices to protect travelers and we are very pleased to be chosen to help them meet their checked baggage screening needs," said Emmanuel Mounier, president and CEO, Morpho Detection International, Inc., the international sales and service division of Morpho Detection. "By dramatically reducing false alarms and the need for costly, time-intensive manual bag inspections, the System of Systems is another example of Morpho Detection's commitment to developing the most advanced technologies to help airports around the world increase efficiency while addressing constantly evolving security challenges."

The Morpho Detection System of Systems is the most advanced checked baggage explosives detection system (EDS) available. It consists of MDI's X-ray Diffraction-based XRD 3500™ EDS fully integrated with one or more CTX 9000 DSi™ Computed Tomography-based EDS.

By connecting all System of Systems workstations across Ben Gurion Airport, the MUXv2 multiplex network enhances operational efficiencies and streamlines operations. Designed to lower operational costs, increase security, and optimize use of critical security personnel, the MUXv2 facilitates interactive communications between the different parts of the System of Systems to quickly and accurately identify potential problems.
