Cogswell College to Host Lively Panel Discussion to Provide Helpful "Tips and Tricks" to Aspiring Entrepreneurs

"Legal Resources for Entrepreneurs" Will Cover Range of Controversial Issues in Intellectual Property Sharing and Protection


SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 23, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As part of its continuing free lecture series within its Entrepreneurship Program, Silicon Valley-based Cogswell College (http://www.cogswell.edu/) will host an informative panel discussion titled Legal Resources for Entrepreneurs. Led by esteemed legal professionals and digital entrepreneurs from across the Bay Area, the panel will address a range of controversial issues surrounding intellectual property sharing and protection.

Moderated by music industry entrepreneur, Cogswell alumnus and faculty member Justin Winokur, the panelists will draw upon their rich and diverse entrepreneurial and legal backgrounds and experiences to provide helpful "tips and tricks" to aspiring business owners. The event will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m. at Cogswell College, 1175 Bordeaux Drive in Sunnyvale. Panelist Backgrounds:

Claire Fennessey has twenty years of direct-to-consumer/digital product development and marketing in the educational/edutainment space (International Masters Publishers, Sunburst Communications, Family Software Club/Cendant Software, Vivendi Universal (Knowledge Adventure, Davidson & Associates, Sierra Online) and Reed Publishing. She is currently President of Palm Publishing.

Steve Horowitz is a creator of odd but highly accessible sounds and a diverse and prolific musician. Best known for his original soundtrack to the Academy Award-nominated film Super Size Me, Steve also composed the music for MTV's hit reality show I BET YOU WILL and Spike TV's Casino Cinema. Steve has worked extensively with Nickelodeon Digital, where his groundbreaking work in interactive entertainment has garnered him both Webby and BDA awards.

For more than 15 years, Stuart Kaler has assisted high technology companies in Silicon Valley to secure, license and defend their intellectual property (IP) rights. During his career, Mr. Kaler has counseled a diverse set of clients, from large multinational concerns to venture-backed start-ups. Mr. Kaler has held senior in-house IP counsel positions at Siemens and Xerox PARC, as well as with law firms Morrison Foerster and Flehr Hohbach Test Albritton & Herbert.

Jeevan Padiyar is a technology entrepreneur and product strategist with ten years of experience in e-commerce and product development. His strong background in financial and competitive analysis, project management, and operations have allowed him to successfully build and lead several technology companies.
