GelTech Announces Approval of Blanket Purchase Agreements for FireIce by United States Forest Service

JUPITER, Fla., May 3, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GelTech Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB:GLTC), creators of FireIce, a revolutionary water enhancing fire suppressant that has the potential to change current firefighting techniques globally, and Soil2O Dust Control, a cost effective, environmentally friendly solution for airborne dust control, announces United States Forest Service (US Forest Service) approval of blanket purchase agreements which provide the framework and pricing under which the US Forest Service may, at its discretion, process purchase orders requesting that GelTech provide product and mobile retardant bases in support of aerial firefighting operations for all land-based aircraft used by the US Forest Service, as well as, to provide product and services in support of ground attack operations on wildfires on any federal or state lands.

Joseph Ingarra, president of GelTech Solutions, stated, "This is a significant milestone for our Company. These agreements mean that we have been approved to provide product mixing services for any sized land-based aircraft used in aerial firefighting, from single engine air tankers (SEATS) that carry 800 gallons per drop to very large air tankers (VLATS) such as DC 10s that carry 10,000+ gallons per drop. In addition, we received approval to provide product and support for ground attack operations."

Ed Kleiman, wildland fire coordinator for GelTech Solutions, stated, "Since our initial listing on the US Forest Service Qualified Products List, we have introduced FireIce to the aerial firefighting market through aerial drop demonstrations conducted with SEAT contractors for two state wildland fire agencies and by demonstrating proof of performance on a DC 10 aircraft in California. Aerial firefighters have been impressed with FireIce because it reduces the payload weight thus reducing airframe stress, improving flight safety and allowing them to carry larger volumes per drop. In addition FireIce is non-corrosive which will reduce aircraft maintenance costs."

Michael Cordani, chief executive officer of GelTech Solutions, stated,"We are gratified to receive the blanket purchase agreement approvals from the US Forest Service. In fiscal 2011, the United States Department of Agriculture, the agency under which the US Forest Service operates, spent over $20 million on fire retardant to fight wildfires. The blanket purchase agreements, approved by the US Forest Service, qualify us to provide FireIce and our services to any state or federal governmental agency responsible for protecting state or federal lands and property."
