Canadian Investigation Into Dumped and Subsidized Imports of Chinese Piling Pipe

HARROW, Ontario, May 4, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Atlas Tube Canada Inc., Harrow, Ontario, is pleased that the Canada Border Services Agency has responded to its trade complaint and has launched a full investigation into the dumping and subsidizing of piling pipe from China.

As a major Canadian producer of piling pipe and an employer of hundreds of persons at its Harrow, Ontario, plant, Atlas filed this complaint in response to a continuous flood of low-priced Chinese pipe into Western Canada. This was done to protect Atlas' manufacturing operations and safeguard the jobs of its employees from the injurious effect of this unfair pricing of Chinese-origin products.

Atlas anticipates that the CBSA investigation will ultimately lead to the curtailment of this injurious activity through the application of anti-dumping and countervailing duties to the imports concerned.
