ALICE, Texas, May 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Alamosa Animal Hospital in Alice has just launched a new website and social media presence. According to veterinarian Dr. Clay Brieger, the new website is designed to be a central information resource for pet and large animal owners throughout Alice, Orange Grove, San Diego, Mathis and Aqua Dulce. The website contains a library of articles discussing pet care, how to select a pet, and what services are available at the clinic, such as spay and neuter surgeries and animal breeding services. The website also includes a new blog and ways for pet owners to interact with the hospital staff, including a new Facebook page.
Dr. Brieger says he hopes the new website will become the go-to veterinary information resource for pet owners. "These days, people go online when they have a question about their pets' health, or when they are thinking about adopting a pet. At our new website, pet owners can find reliable information from their own veterinarian. There is a lot of information in the library already, plus links to other reliable animal health resources that we've selected, and we'll be adding more as time goes on."
Dr. Brieger says there are two main library sections on the website: the Veterinary Topics menu and the Member Topics menu. The Veterinary Topics menu, located on the right side of each page on the site, includes a wide range of articles about keeping pets healthy. Visitors can peruse topics from spay and neuter surgeries, first aid and vaccinations to pet grooming and feeding. The Member Topics menu is for families of current patients and requires registration, but is free of charge. It includes access to the clinic's pet wellness program, games and coloring pages for kids and pet videos.
According to Dr. Brieger, the website was also created to encourage interactivity between clinic staff and pet owners. The Pet Selector interactive quiz helps people choose a breed that might best fit with their family's lifestyle. The New Patient Center tab enables pet owners to fill out required paperwork at home before coming in for a pet's first appointment, giving pets and hospital staff more time together in the office. Dr. Brieger says the new veterinary blog is also designed to encourage pet owners to discuss pet health topics. They plan to post on everything from spay and neuter surgeries to first aid. Visitors can post comments, ask questions and suggest other topics they would like to read about.
The new website is also linked to their Facebook page, explains Dr. Brieger. "We want the new pages to be both educational and entertaining. We want to celebrate our pets and our neighbors' pets and animals, so we hope that everyone will stop by and visit."
