One Convergence Announces Edge Acceleration Platform for SDN and Overlay Networking

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - May 7, 2012) - Interop 2012 -- One Convergence today announced OpenFlow compliant Edge Acceleration Platform (EAP) that scales, accelerates and offloads Open vSwitch and enables user extensions via custom flow actions.

Overlay networking using L2oL3 tunneling to connect Open vSwitches as a way of realizing Network Virtualization is fast emerging as a network paradigm that allows dynamic provisioning and efficient utilization while providing isolation for multi-tenancy in the datacenter. One Convergence EAP can facilitate network appliances and servers to achieve wire speed performance while freeing up the host processors, extend edge switching for application specific flow actions and be future proof with emerging standards & protocols.

The initial offering of EAP is a solution running on Freescale's QorIQ P4080-based Smart IO PCIe adapter platform with dual 10G and is targeted for data center applications like virtualized servers, edge switches, L2oL3 gateways and other network appliances. The solution will have support for L2oL3 tunneling like VXLAN, NVGRE and other protocols along with full offload of Open vSwitch for enabling OpenFlow based SDN.
