InfoExpress Network Access Control Offers Extended Support for 802.1x Switches and Wireless Controllers Without Endpoint Changes

CyberGatekeeper NAC Adds Ability to Configure Cisco Switches and Wireless Controllers with Patented Technology

Mountain View, Calif., May 8, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- InfoExpress, an enterprise Network Access Control (NAC) solutions provider for mobile computing and Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) networks, announced today at the 2012 Interop Las Vegas Conference and Expo, that it is extending enforcement to support Cisco switches and wireless LAN (WLAN) controllers, with its CyberGatekeeper NAC family of products. The new offering uses patented technology to eliminate the costly and time-consuming need to reconfigure endpoints, and has been designed to work with third-party infrastructure, such as Cisco switches and WLAN controllers.

Traditionally the problem with NAC and 802.1x is that network administrators faced the time consuming and challenging task of reconfiguring the endpoints and the network, from the RADIUS server to setting up VLANs. These onerous changes often result in the delay or cancellation of NAC deployments, even when 802.1x provided the best technology solution.

The newly added support for Cisco and other third-party switches and WLAN controllers eliminates configuration changes to the endpoint and the network. The approach supports computers running operating systems like Windows and Mac OS X, mobile devices based on Android and iOS, and embedded devices. It is particularly useful for organizations implementing BYOD policies for personally owned devices.

Significant benefits include:

Manageability:Simplified configuration of endpoints

  • No supplicants needed on endpoints
  • No special configuration for guest devices
  • Unlimited endpoint platform support

Deployability:Infrastructure-based enforcement

  • Uses industry-standard features found in most switches and wireless controllers
  • Reduces the number of components (appliances are located out-of-band)
  • Scales to large numbers of devices with full redundancy
  • Support for captive portals to handle non-compliant devices

Flexibility:Role-based access control possible with authentication helper

  • Provide roles through flexible NAC policies based on Active Directory
  • Check device domain membership, device compliance, and user identity
  • Leverage switch ACLs and VLANs to support roles

"InfoExpress has always been committed to offering solutions that anticipate the needs of our customers," said Stacey Lum, CEO of InfoExpress. "With the addition of extended NAC support for Cisco and third-party devices, our customers are able to eliminate the need to reconfigure endpoints with the major network equipment vendors, simplifying the implementation of NAC."
