Government of Canada Supports Growth of Digital Imagery Research and Development Center

MATANE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 10, 2012) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Digital Imagery Research and Development Center (CDRIN-Centre de développement et de recherche en imagerie numérique) has been granted financial assistance to acquire equipment to maximize opportunities for technology transfer to businesses.

"By supporting CDRIN's project, the Government of Canada is demonstrating its firm commitment to economic growth focused, in particular, on innovation," said Minister Lebel.

Launched in 2011, CDRIN works with companies to carry out research and technology transfer in the field of digital imagery. To properly meet the needs of its clients, the centre acquired motion capture cameras and a 3D scanner to add to the state-of-the-art equipment it already owns and uses. CDRIN boasts the biggest motion capture studio in North America and these major additions will enable it to be even more competitive and effective in assisting companies in their innovation process and in implementing their various projects.

CDRIN caters mainly to enterprises in the field of digital entertainment, such as film, animation, video games and the performing arts, as well as the health, engineering, industrial design, security and defence sectors.
