Government of Canada Lends Financial Support to Genia Photonics Inc.

LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 14, 2012) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the firm Genia Photonics Inc. has been awarded financial assistance to acquire state-of-the-art production equipment and laboratory materials. The directors of this innovative firm estimate that this project could result in the creation of 22 jobs by the year 2014.

"This financial contribution to Genia Photonics illustrates our firm commitment to supporting enterprises that are putting strategies in place and are thereby creating wealth and prosperity in their regions."

Genia Photonics Inc. is a start-up company that designs, develops and manufactures advanced, pulse programmable and multifunctional fiber-based lasers-a unique technology-for clients in a variety of sectors: security, biomedical, pharmaceutical and chemical. Genia Photonics' compact, easy to use laser systems are computer controlled and allow users to achieve highly accurate evaluations in real time using advanced spectroscopic techniques. The new production equipment will enable Genia Photonics Inc. to meet growing customer demand and its sophisticated new laboratory facilities will help further and accelerate the research and development work initiated by the company in the last two years.
