Comedienne, author, executive coach and organizational therapist, Connie Podesta, used passion and humor to help attendees identify and understand personality types for more effective management; leverage social media to attract and retain younger employees; and enable others to be more influential leaders. "Leadership isn't about the golden rule. Learn how to manage others how they want to be managed."
NEW members also heard from Lisa Haines, vice president, public affairs for Disneyland Resort, who offered this advice: "Work-life balance is a constant struggle, even for the professional. My quest for balance has been a journey." Event attendees were also treated to photo opportunities with special surprise guest, Mickey Mouse.
Kendra Doyel, vice president of public relations for Ralphs/Food 4 Less/FoodsCo, served as emcee of the event.
"The keynote speaker was wonderful," shared Pete Holmvik, director of finance from Supervalu and a NEW event first-time attendee. "The comments can apply to both men and women in their personal and professional lives. I would definitely come back to another event!"
"Big wow -- this was the best event ever!" according to Caroline Cotten, president and chief executive officer of Social Sampling and founding member of the Network of Executive Women. "Attendance was 100% greater than the first national meeting. What a phenomenal organization!"
The next event for the Network of Executive Women's Southern California region is a networking mixer scheduled for Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Parker's Lighthouse in Long Beach, Calif.
