Austin, TX, June 12, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Transcend Computing, an innovator in Amazon Compatible Environments (ACE) for public, private and hybrid cloud computing, today announced the availability of TopStack Web Edition for Piston Enterprise OS™. TopStack Web Edition provides a set of platform services that emulate the Amazon PaaS. These services leverage Piston Cloud's OpenStack™-based IaaS software solution to provide workload elasticity. As part of this arrangement, Transcend will offer a pre-integrated stack that bundles the two solutions and will act as a strategic reseller of Piston Enterprise OS.
Jeff Schneider, CEO of Transcend Computing commented, "Our customers have asked for a certified OpenStack solution for TopStack. Piston Cloud is a great fit; they've taken OpenStack to the next level by hardening the core and adding enterprise grade features like high-availability."
Joshua McKenty, CEO and co-founder of Piston Cloud stated, "The integration of Piston Enterprise OS with TopStack is a powerful combination that extends the value of both solutions. Delivering a set of complementary platform services enables faster software releases, increased availability and decreased operational costs. We are excited to partner together and look forward to delivering enterprise-grade OpenStack capability to Transcend Computing's customer base."
TopStack Web Edition provides a set of as-a-service offerings that are interoperable with Amazon Web Services (AWS) PaaS and can be deployed in your data center. This interoperability enables organizations to more easily migrate applications between private and public clouds. The offering includes:
- TopStack Load Balancer - distributes incoming application traffic across servers and is compatible with Amazon's Elastic Load Balancer.
- TopStack Caching Service - provides an in-memory caching array to increase performance and is compatible with Amazon's ElastiCache.
- TopStack Container Service - enables auto-scaling and recovery of Java/PHP applications and is compatible with Amazon's Elastic Beanstalk
- TopStack Relational Data Service - offers self-service provisioning of databases and is compatible with Amazon's Relational Database Services.
Piston Enterprise OS software allows businesses to easily manage IT infrastructure as a single, flexible and dynamic cloud operating environment. Combining all of the features of OpenStack, a hardened Linux operating system optimized for security, and Piston Cloud's unique Moxie HA™ high availability framework, Piston Enterprise OS seamlessly and dynamically allocates compute, storage and networking resources for a simpler way to deliver your organization's business-critical applications.
