The cloud-based data protection solution has helped the growing town eliminate outdated tape backup technology to safeguard its valuable data while providing easy and reliable restore capabilities in the event of system outages or natural disaster.
The Town of Dedham, first settled in 1635, is located about 12 miles southwest of Boston, and is the county seat of Norfolk County. The town currently has a population of about 25,000 for which it provides critical services including fire and police.
Following a series of natural disasters, including flooding and major storm systems, in many surrounding areas, the town's IT staff decided that a better solution was needed to safeguard its mission-critical data. The municipality was using a tape-based backup solution that was aging and cumbersome to manage. It didn't deliver the simplicity and reliability needed for its growing virtual infrastructure, plus it required staff resources to physically manage the tapes.
