WASHINGTON, July 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American PrePaid Phonecall Association, APPPA, will offer an in-depth session on the issues facing prepaid phone call providers at The Prepaid Press Expo '12 in Las Vegas on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. At the session, APPPA will share its plans to protect the industry's interests, good name and public trust by establishing standards and best practices for prepaid phone call providers in the U.S. In addition, there are significant legal issues, like USF, payphone compensation and other state and federal actions which will impact the industry and its consumers. The session will run from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and will be hosted by Pete Pattullo, Vice Chairman of APPPA and Chair of the Government Relations committee, and Gene Retske, APPPA Executive Director.
Pattullo, also the CEO of NetworkIP, said, "The issues facing prepaid calling providers are significant. APPPA, the industry association for the industry, is taking a proactive role in advocating the best possible regulatory environment for the industry and its consumers." Pattullo also said that it is important for all providers to be aware of the issues and take an active role in them.

APPPA is currently working on a variety of issues, including payphone compensation, USF re-structure and federal regulation. All providers of prepaid calling products are encouraged to attend and participate in the APPPA session, whether they are APPPA members or not.
