Mark A. Thierer

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Catamaran [CTRX]

Mark Thierer is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Catamaran (Nasdaq:CTRX) (TSX:CCT), one of the nation's largest pharmacy benefit managers serving more than 25 million members. Mr. Thierer has been instrumental in redefining the way pharmacy benefits are managed by successfully merging two industry-leading PBMs – SXC Health Solutions and Catalyst Health Solutions – to create Catamaran, a $13 billion company scaled to drive significant client savings, with a service offering wrapped in flexibility, agility and a client-centered philosophy. Through his leadership, Catamaran has emerged as the leading alternative to the traditional approach of other PBMs, with customized solutions that benefit healthcare payers and the communities they serve.

As a 30-year healthcare industry leader, Mr. Thierer has a track record of leading organizations to financial and operational success. He joined SXC in 2006 as President and Chief Operating Officer and was named President and CEO in 2008, and CEO and Chairman of the Board in 2011. From the beginning, his vision was to transform SXC from a pure technology player to an industry leading full service provider. When Mr. Thierer joined SXC, revenues were $50 million, EBITDA was $12 million annually, and the company market capitalization was $160 million. Since that time the company has posted a compound annual growth rate of 50% and an amazing fifty-fold increase in shareholder value. This growth and value creation earned the company numerous industry awards, with Fortune naming SXC the #1 Fastest Growing Company in 2011.

Prior to joining SXC, Mr. Thierer led the evolution of Physicians Interactive, a division of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of Electronic Health Records, ePrescribing and IT solutions for physicians. As President, he repositioned the company from a supplier of electronic detailing to a full-service provider of online marketing and educational tools for physicians.

Mr. Thierer also spent 10 years with CaremarkRx, now CVS Caremark Corporation, as a corporate officer and key executive in growing the company into a market-leading PBM and specialty pharmacy company. As Senior Vice President, Industry Relations, he built executive-level supply chain relationships with pharmaceutical, biotech and generic drug companies and established Caremark's contracting relationships with major chain drug stores such as Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart and Rite Aid. Prior to Caremark, he spent 10 years at IBM where he held positions of increasing responsibility in sales management in the company's health industry vertical.

Mr. Thierer is dedicated to helping professional organizations improve efficiency and effectiveness in the pharmaceutical industry. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) and maintains active memberships in the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP), National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS), and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Committed to improving his community, he also serves on the Board of the Museum of Science and Industry and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He is active in the Economic Club, serves on board of the Executive's Club of Chicago and CEOs Against Cancer.

Mr. Thierer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Minnesota, an M.B.A from Nova Southern University, and has earned the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation. He is also a frequent guest lecturer at Northwestern Kellogg School of Management and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
