Tysons Corner Marriott Offers Complimentary Charging for Electric Vehicles

TYSONS CORNER, VA--(Marketwire - Jul 17, 2012) - Guests of Tysons Corner Marriott can charge their vehicles for free while they recharge themselves with an overnight stay in this hotel near Tysons Corner Mall.

Tysons Corner Marriott now offers guests complimentary vehicle charging at two 30-amp charging stations recently installed in the lower level of the McLean hotel's parking garage, making it one of about 100 charging locations in Virginia. The hotel received the stations through Nissan North America, Inc.'s charger donation program that promotes the adoption of energy-efficient electric vehicles.

"We're delighted to provide our guests with a convenient way to charge their electric vehicles," says Shelly DiMeglio, general manager, Tysons Corner Marriott. "At Marriott Hotels & Resorts we take responsibility for the environmental impact of our operations. By providing this complimentary service, we engage our guests in practices that protect the environment. At the same time, we assist guests who have adopted cost-effective transportation in a tight economy."

There are approximately 5,700 charging locations in the United States, but the number is expected to grow to an estimated 11,000 by the end of 2012. Electric vehicles will represent 10 percent of global auto sales by 2020, according to Steve Oldham, spokesman, Nissan.
