ASHEVILLE , N.C., July 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The national Alliance AutoGas network has added four certified conversion centers to provide fleets across the country with EPA-certified, cost-effective propane autogas conversions for over 200 vehicle types. New Alliance conversion centers include Carburetor Connection in Kirkland, Wash.; Fox Valley Truck in Appleton, Wis.; the Motor Company in Marinette, Wis.; and Sunbury Motors in Sunbury, Pa.
"The Alliance AutoGas partner network of propane autogas fueling and conversion centers will continue to expand as more American fleets demand a clean, low-cost alternative to gasoline," says Alliance AutoGas President Stuart Weidie. "Part of what makes autogas the most viable alternative fuel for the transportation sector is the affordability of vehicle conversions. These new Alliance certified conversion centers will play an important role in getting more U.S. fleets running on American-made, economical autogas."
Staffed with expert technicians trained to convert and maintain propane autogas vehicles for fleets, certified Alliance AutoGas conversion centers are equipped to implement both bi-fuel and dedicated propane vehicle conversions using Prins vapor and liquid injection technology. The bi-fuel Prins Vapor Sequential Injection (Prins VSI) system provides peace of mind by allowing autogas vehicle drivers to switch to gasoline if they're out of range of an autogas fuel station.
The Prins VSI system is an extremely versatile clean fuel technology that saves fleets money in the long run because it can be transferred from one vehicle to another, unlike a propane-dedicated liquid system. The autogas aftermarket conversion system is transferrable to any vehicle with the same number of engine cylinders, and a retired vehicle can be re-sold in its original configuration.
"We're going out there and helping fleets make the switch to propane autogas at the grassroots level with conversion centers nationwide," says Weidie. "Autogas technology really works; it's not an experiment. Running on autogas helps fleets clean up the environment while using a domestically produced fuel; and, perhaps most importantly for fleet operators, it saves them a significant amount of money."
The most widely used alternative fuel in the world, propane autogas powers 18 million vehicles globally. Ninety-eight percent of U.S. autogas supply is made in America, so fleets running on autogas are enhancing our national energy security, in addition to saving money on fuel costs and protecting the environment. U.S. autogas fleets are currently paying around $1.25 per gallon less than gasoline, and many report their vehicles require less maintenance because autogas is a cleaner-burning fuel.
