SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 24, 2012) - More than half of 1,000 people surveyed this summer said they would buy more tickets to entertainment events if a mobile app existed that removed the hassles of ticket buying for them and their friends, according to Vendini, the largest cloud-based ticketing provider in the country.
The survey, conducted by lab42 in June, confirmed what Vendini was already hearing -- there is a vast, unserved market in friend-to-friend ticket buying, or F2F. This is the market between primary and secondary ticket buying, comprised of friends and families who want to attend an event together.
The survey underscores the vitality of Vendini's newest innovation -- Walletini. Walletini is a free mobile app that allows fans to buy, store and transfer entertainment tickets from all major ticketing providers via any smartphone. This free app also makes it easy to get paid back from friends as it allows you to request and receive money right from your mobile device. The app also eliminates the hassle of keeping track of paper tickets as users are able to simply show up at an event and have their tickets scanned at the door from their phones.
When it comes to electronic ticketing, the overwhelming majority (93%) of those surveyed said they would buy tickets through a mobile app, 89% said they would organize and store tickets through such an app, and 88% said they would distribute tickets to a friend through a mobile app.
Vendini's CEO Mark Tacchi said it is significant to note that consumers said they would buy more tickets if it meant they could more easily share the experience with friends and family.
"This is a strong indicator of an unmet need in the F2F market," Tacchi said. "We are the first to recognize it and find a solution."
