TORONTO, July 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lamb Development Corp. (LDC) has partnered with Public Art Management (PAM) to host a public art competition for one of their Toronto developments, Theatre Park. This is the first time LDC has participated in a public art program in Toronto. They have chosen PAM as their exclusive partners to host this very special project. Lamb Dev Corp's partners in Theatre Park include Niche Developments (ND) and Harhay Construction Management Ltd (HCM).
Public Art Management handpicked a selection of 12 artists from a wide array of contemporary art backgrounds, and considered emerging, mid-career, and established artists through the process. Artists were specifically selected based on aesthetics, experience and their history of past success within the community.
An Invitation for Expression of Interest (IEOI) was circulated amongst the selected, gauging their interested in taking part in the Theatre Park Public Art Program. From the artists whom responded to the IEOI, a further review was given which narrowed the list down to 4 finalists. The remaining 4 were then asked to create a concept for the development, based on the criteria provided to them. PAM, LDC, ND & HCM reviewed the submissions, along with a public art jury composed of Joanne Tod (Toronto-based artist and Professor at U of T), and Michael Macaulay (former Chairperson of the Toronto Public Art Commission, art expert, and VP of Marketing at Porter Airlines). From this process a winner was commissioned and their concept will now be a part of a public art installation at Theatre Park.
The artist and commissioned artwork will be announced this fall.
LDC and PAM decided to hold an exclusive invitation-only call to artists, as they wanted to focus on artists who could integrate their work into the Theatre Park site the best way possible. This is the first of many creative initiatives that Lamb Development Corp. will be carrying out for their future development projects. Their second public art commissioned piece will be launched for their Calgary development, 6th and Tenth.

Theatre Park is a spectacular tower of 47 stories sprouting from the historic Theatre District of Toronto's King Street West.
