PHILADELPHIA, July 30, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Breadboard and PECO are launching the third season of their Art in the Air program with an international call for submissions.
Art in the Air is a digital art initiative that utilizes the PECO Crown Lights system to display digital artwork and animation allowing thousands of viewers to experience these works in the night sky over Philadelphia. The program was developed through a partnership between Breadboard, a program of the University City Science Center that explores the intersection of art, science and technology, and PECO.
Every two months three digital artworks will be selected for an Art in the Air exhibit to be displayed on the Crown Lights tower in Center City Philadelphia. Selected submissions will be screened each Friday evening from 7:00 pm to midnight beginning in September 2012.
The September re-launch of the 2012 Art in the Air series is open to both national and international artists. Artists interested in submitting their work for consideration should go to http://www.breadboardphilly.org/programs/art-in-the-air-2 or submit their work to artintheair@sciencecenter.org. The submission deadline is August 21, 2012.
"Art in the Air" was launched in 2010. Over the past two years PECO has featured the works of more than 30 different artists from the tri-state region atop the lights as part of the program.
