YPSILANTI, Mich., Aug. 19, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dr. Delta Leeper has been appointed as the Medical Director for Whittaker Road Animal Clinic. As Medical Director, Dr. Leeper will oversee a variety of services at the vet clinic including wellness and sick care, an in-house laboratory, diagnostic services, a surgical suite, and an on-site pharmacy. Dr. Leeper joins Dr. Jeff Rothstein, a veterinarian with over eighteen years of experience, and a team that includes professional veterinary staff and office personnel. Her role will include providing well care and sick care for pets, as well as managing administrative functions for the vet clinic.
Dr. Leeper became a veterinarian after leaving a successful career in advertising. She graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and completed her studies with an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Group in Sacramento, California. Her philosophy is to base veterinary care on scientific evidence. As she joins the Whittaker Road Animal Clinic, the doctor says that her goal will be to work in partnership with pet owners to provide preventive care to keep pets healthy and restorative care to restore health and provide comfort when they are sick.
"I look forward to working with the pets, pet owners and pet care team at Whittaker Road Animal Clinic," said Dr. Leeper. "My scientific background will complement the clinic's philosophy of treating pets like valued family members. Together I think we will be able to maintain and expand the high level of care and compassion that is provided."
In addition to her administrative duties at the veterinary hospital, the doctor will oversee a team that provides pet care services, including Ypsilanti spay and neuter services and other pet surgery options such as orthopedic repairs, tumor removal and biopsies, declawing, and exploratory surgeries. Additional services available include microchipping to aid in pet identification, pet vaccinations, health certificates that are needed for selling or transporting pets, prescriptions, diets for health and weight issues, and pet dental care.
Dr. Leeper hopes that her ability to speak fluent Spanish and conversational French may also be of help with some pet owners. In her free time she enjoys being at home in the company of her four cats, or dancing the Argentine tango. "I'm happy to be associated with a clinic that has invested in a wide range of services and pet care," she concluded. "I think that makes Whittaker Road Animal Clinic special and I hope to be able to build on the strong foundation that they have already set in place."
