SASKATOON, Saskatchewan, Aug. 19, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A newly redesigned website was launched for Westward Animal Hospital. The new website offers pet owners information about the veterinary practice, access to a library of articles and tips about pet health, special offers and a blog feature. According to the animal hospital, the website was developed to create a stronger relationship between the pet hospital and pet owners.
Veterinarian Dr. Cairo Parker of Westward Animal Hospital in Saskatoon has just launched a website to provide pet owners information about her small animal practice. Additionally, she stated the website resources were created to help pet owners take a more active role in the health of their animals.
The new website, http://westwardanimalhospital.com, reflects Westward Animal Hospital's focus on educating and involving the entire family, kids included, in their pets' health.
"We have created our website to provide pet owners the information they need to make better, informed decisions to help their pets live a longer, healthier life," Dr. Parker said. "The better informed pet owners are, the more successful our animal hospital will be in providing effective pet care services." The Saskatoon veterinarian added, "Effective veterinary care depends on a strong relationship between the pet owner and veterinarian. Veterinarians can't do it alone."
The site encourages visitors to register for a complimentary website membership. The "Members Only" section of the website includes, a free subscription to Pet Living & Wellness Newsletter; a library of articles and videos on common pet medical conditions; tips on pet care, such as grooming, feeding, seasonal care, how to recognize illnesses, first aid, traveling with pets, life and death decisions regarding pets and obedience training; the "Vetopedia" glossary of veterinary medicine terms; and a section just for kids – with online games and quizzes, printable games and puzzles and a wellness coloring book.
Parker said that the website prepares pet owners for the service they will receive at the animal hospital in Saskatoon. Encouraging children to be involved in the visit, the clinic offers balloons, coloring books, and toys to keep them entertained and to help them learn more about pet care. In addition, the exam rooms are designed for the comfort of pet owners, as well as their pets.
The animal hospital provides a range of veterinary care services, including pet vaccinations, pet dental care, spay and neuter operations, wellness exams, surgery and emergency care. Dr. Parker treats dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, reptiles, ferrets and rodents. She recently completed an internship in exotic animal medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.
