Cyberintelligence experts embrace downtown commitment to energy efficiency
PITTSBURGH, Aug. 22, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tiversa, the cyberintelligence experts, has been named a Founding Partner for the Pittsburgh 2030 District. The Pittsburgh 2030 District – part of the national Architecture 2030 Challenge – is a collaboration of companies large and small that are committing to a city-wide initiative that will keep Pittsburgh competitive into the future. The goal of the Pittsburgh 2030 District is to enlist all of the downtown Central Business District in embracing the 2030 Challenge by committing to achieve 50% reductions in energy, water, and transportation emissions by the year 2030. So far, 61 buildings have been committed to the Pittsburgh initiative, representing 38% of the downtown business district and over 23 million square feet.
"As an organization which intends on being a leader in the Pittsburgh business community, becoming a Founding Partner for the Pittsburgh 2030 District was an easy decision," noted Tiversa CEO Bob Boback. "We always want to lead by example and this initiative comes at a good time as we continue to renovate our headquarters downtown. We may not have the largest property committed to the project, but we will be a very active partner in helping the Pittsburgh 2030 District grow and meet the challenge goal."
Tiversa committed its 49,000 square foot headquarters and joins 42 other downtown companies or organizations as a Founding Partner of Pittsburgh 2030 District, including Alcoa, City of Pittsburgh, PNC Financial Group, Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins and Highmark. Pittsburgh is one of only three cities that have launched a 2030 District at this time. Seattle and Cleveland both have 2030 Districts as well, but Pittsburgh has already either matched or exceeded the number of square feet committed to its 2030 Challenge. This aligns with Pittsburgh's position as a national leader in innovation and forward-thinking initiatives.
"Pittsburgh is making a substantial investment in its future by establishing the Pittsburgh 2030 District," says Ed Mazria, founder of Architecture 2030. "2030 Districts are financially workable, sustainability focused, and environmentally balanced models, seeking continued prosperity through collaboration and resource sharing. Architecture 2030 is fortunate to be working with the Green Building Alliance, an established leader of market-based sustainable development in western Pennsylvania, to advance the Pittsburgh 2030 District."
